Mogas endowment funds Texas A&M-Kingsville University scholarship

10/30/2018

MOGAS Industries Founder and Chairman, Louis Mogas, was honored in the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Business Journal 2018 for the creation of the Mogas Family Perseverance Scholarship Endowment.

The endowment will be used to establish a similarly named scholarship program, designed to help high school students in South Texas who struggle with the financial decision to attend college. Louis and Marilyn Mogas provided a generously funded endowment, and an additional amount to spur an initial scholarship award for the upcoming 2018-2019 academic year. The MOGAS endowment will be matched by the Texas A&M University-Kingsville Foundation with an equal amount of funds from the Welhausen Funds Match Program.

Read some of the hardship stories—An Alumnus Shares Life Lessons Learned On and Off Campus—that inspired Mr. and Mrs. Mogas to create this opportunity for an incoming student to make the decision to persevere against the odds, seek and fulfill their goal of earning an undergraduate degree, despite the lack of financial resources to do so. Mr. and Mrs. Mogas both have personal experience in attending college on a limited budget.

As a company, MOGAS' commitment to advancing education is also demonstrated through scholarship and educational grants to MOGAS employees and their children. The Company also supports private initiatives for public good, focusing on quality of life.
