5/7/2015

Weir Minerals Netherlands and MOGAS to combine expertise and product offering

HOUSTON – MOGAS Industries, Inc. and Weir Minerals have joined their expertise to further develop the market for MOGAS severe service ball valves. Weir Minerals will incorporate MOGAS products in its extensive slurry valve range and total solutions offering for high pressure slurry pipelines. The integrated Weir Minerals and MOGAS expertise is intended to offer substantially improved operational reliability and profitability.

Weir Minerals is a global player in the design and manufacture of high pressure positive displacement slurry pumps for long-distance ore and tailings slurry pipelines, as well as many other mineral ore processing applications. The unique slurry know how of Weir Minerals, gained from more than 1500 reference installations with GEHO® PD slurry pumps, has resulted in superior hydraulic designs and special material solutions to prevent wear, corrosion and abrasion. Weir Minerals provides complete designs for pump stations and the MOGAS valve is a critical component when providing all key equipment for pipeline pump stations.

MOGAS has been providing metal-seated, severe service ball valves and solutions in some of the toughest applications for over four decades. It was the first to successfully introduce metal-seated ball valves in the severe service applications of slurry transport pipelines. This agreement introduces dependable MOGAS valves into areas of limited access and extreme conditions.

Matt Mogas, President and CEO of MOGAS said: "Weir Minerals has a large market share in high pressure slurry pipelines in mining with extensive sales network. This agreement gives MOGAS an increased sales presence in regions where we were not very active before, and adds severe service slurry ball valves to Weir Minerals' Total Solutions product offering. We're very excited about it. Both companies will benefit from this agreement."
